Personal, Confidential Counseling

Theresa K. Cooke MA, LMSW, LLP has been in private practice since 1985. Graduating from Albion College in 1982, Theresa Cooke earned her Master’s degree from Hofstra University in New York in 1984. Ms. Cooke brings over 30 years of experience through training, certification, education and experience of working with over 3000 cases.

Theresa K. Cooke provides professional, comprehensive mental health treatment, utilizing an integrated and holistic approach. Psychotherapy services are offered in a sensitive, supportive and compassionate environment to enhance and support the personal growth of the individual, couple and family. She is committed to providing services for the best interest of individual, couple and family.

In 1993, Theresa Cooke expanded her therapy services and founded FACES, INC. This program grew out of a vision to meet the needs of the community. She began to offer specialized programs and services. She went on to be a certified AASECT counselor and educator and has been a member of AASECT since 1985 Over the years she added the specialized services of EMDR and Mediation. Theresa is EMDR trained in Level I and Level II. She also completed Mediation training through the Mediation Training and Consulting Institute with Zena Zumeta J.D. She became a Diplomat of Clinical Forensic Counseling- Forensic Assessment/Evaluation/Mediation of Child Custody Evaluations from the American College of Certified Forensic Counselors and the National Association of Forensic Counselors #F19734 as well as a Nationally Certified Psychologist #00529. Theresa has continued to expand her services by adding the The “Healing Hearts” program and the Evaluation programs. Evolving from these programs, Theresa went on to complete training in Parenting Coordination and Life and Parenting Coaching. These programs were then added to the already existing list of services. After taking specialized training Telehealth services were added and are now an available benefit through most insurances.

Theresa Cooke is dedicated to her community and was awarded the Grand Blanc High School Distinguished Alumni Award for her contributions to her community. She was the recipient of the ARGUS AWARD for her contribution to the children of Genesee County. Over the years she has served on the boards of several community organizations, chaired and assisted in fundraising events to benefit those in need.

Theresa has been a guest speaker, appeared on local radio and television to discuss various mental health topics ranging from sexual trauma to commentaries on current events in the mental health field. She is accepted as an expert witness in the area of trauma, childhood development, marriage and relationships, parenting time and family dynamics since 1985 in Genesee, Livingston, Lapeer, Tuscola and Oakland Counties. She has written a variety of articles that have appeared in several publications online and in print.

F.A.C.E.S., INC. (Family and Child Evaluation Services) grew out of a concern for the best interest of the family and child. The evaluation program primarily works with the court system to address cases disputing parenting time and custody. F.A.C.E.S., INC, also offers counseling and psychotherapy to adults and children in a confidential and supportive setting. Additional services include: counseling services, parenting coordination, healing hearts, life coaching, bonding assessments, mediation, evaluation, and educational services.
